Awake?

Silence awoke me then, the absence
Of sounds rose to a null crescendo
A deep note of nothingness
Prevailed over chaos that would follow

Though the sun crest high at noon
Generously gave off its shafts of light
Yet the day seemed to be lit by a golden moon
For of warmth, I was gravely deprived

Heaps of withered leaves fluttered and flew,
The breath of the dying breeze passed by
And my sickened skin numb without a clue
Could not in least wherefore my apathy

All my thoughts spent, all memories fade
Insanity wielded my presence since
Darkness guides every path I tread
Leading me on past my past sins

There was but one true path, it took me
At its very end a black crowd stood
Gathered same as a murder of crows
Shaped a circle and then I understood

Why the sky wont’shine before my eyes
And the why the fleeting wind wont soothe
Thundering clouds tear apart, they cry
They shed at last when I realize the truth
Of my death
