Faint whispers, a wisp away from silence
He stood there alone, astray
The sounds began to veer down
And then, with pounding heart and heavy breaths
Was heard, and the world around him wakened
Heinous hunger drove those minions of menace
Those that bore no semblance of the living
But lamentations of the wicked and the undead
He quickly reached for the hilt, trembling
Wary, afraid and in this dire loneliness, suffering
Thousands swarmed like luminous clouds of fireflies
And screeching, growling, uttering the unheard
Though the darkness grew, the moon offered
Faint shafts of light dispersing through the canopy
Then the blade of the sword glistened blue
Unsheathed now, it aroused the demons
One after one they came, and he anew
Fought off his fears and the fiends
Faint whispers, a wisp away from silence
He stood there alone, astray
The sounds began to veer down
